I gifted sessions to a non-profit who provides shelter for families that are briefly homeless. The biggest issues were increased rents they couldn’t afford and lacking deposits on a new place. These upsetting events left them unexpectedly homeless. It was eye-opening for me to realize that you wouldn’t know these families were living out of their car or in a shelter. They’re working, their kids are in school, and they dress nice.
I shot these photos some months back, and never shared them because I wasn’t sure what to say about the experience. Recently I discovered it was this. Despite their current circumstances, they had positive attitudes, and that simple gesture inspired me. I appreciate these moments because they show me a new perspective. More importantly, I’m grateful for the people who share their stories with me. Thank you to Family Promise of Orange County for inviting me to give back to their families!
